Dr. Andrew Goldenberg is a distinguished figure in the field of robotics and mechatronics, recognized for his significant contributions and leadership. He founded Engineering Services Inc. (ESI) in 1982, a high-technology company specializing in robotics-based automation, which achieved substantial growth under his guidance. In 2015, ESI was acquired by a Chinese consortium, where Dr. Goldenberg continued to serve as President and later as Chief Technology Officer until 2019. He also established Anviv Mechatronics Inc. in 2006 and two AI-embedded robotics companies, TNL AI-Embedded Robotics Inc. and ESIRAI Inc., in 2021. Dr. Goldenberg's academic career is equally impressive. He is the founder of the Robotics program at the University of Toronto, where he served as a Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, with cross-appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Professor at Ryerson University, as well as a Guest Professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China. Throughout his career, Dr. Goldenberg has supervised one of the largest numbers of graduate students in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, with 48 PhD and 67 MASc graduates. His publication record includes over 10,500 citations, 134 journal papers, 306 conference papers, 15 book chapters, and 95 patents. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the IEEE A.G.L. McNaughton Gold Medal and an honorary Ph.D. from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Dr. Goldenberg is a Life Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of ASME, EIC, CAE, and AAAS, and a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. He has held editorial positions in several leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation. Dr. Goldenberg obtained his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1976 and his M.A.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Born in Bucharest, Romania, he has made an indelible mark on the field of robotics and engineering.
